Founded in 2019 by Hiria Aorangi (Ngati Hine, Ngati Kuri), Korowai by Hiria is a family-owned business dedicated to the traditional Māori art of korowai-making. Our journey began with a love for weaving and a desire to share the beauty of korowai with the world. With each thread, we weave together stories, traditions, and a deep connection to our culture.
Mission and Values
Korowai by Hiria's goal is to craft exquisite handmade korowai that provide warmth and soulful nourishment. A dedicated Maori family creating traditional designs for global sharing. By family, for family.
We're driven by values of:
Manaakitanga (respect and care): We honor the tradition and cultural significance of korowai. Kaitiakitanga (stewardship): We care for our materials, our craft, and our community. Auahatanga (creativity): We innovate while staying true to our roots.
Korowai Significance Korowai are more than just garments; they're a symbol of love, respect, and connection. Each korowai tells a story, and we're humbled to be a part of yours.
