Our Custom Korowai Collection offers you the opportunity to create a contemporary korowai that is uniquely yours—designed to reflect your whakapapa, achievements, values and vision.

Working closely with our Creative Director, Hiria, each custom design is thoughtfully developed through a collaborative design process. Together, we'll explore your preferred colours, feather layout, tāniko, symbolism and the story you wish your korowai to tell.

Whether you're celebrating a graduation, wedding, leadership role, cultural achievement or creating a treasured whānau taonga, every custom korowai is handcrafted with intention, care and respect.

Each design is individually made in our Auckland studio using premium materials, our exclusive Signature Tāniko Band, and the craftsmanship Korowai by Hiria is known for.

Please note: Custom Korowai have a minimum production timeframe of three weeks following final design approval and receipt of payment.

Materials

The materials used and sourced for our contemporary designs are as follows:

Lining: Black polycotton blend

Feathers: Our contemporary korowai designs include a variety of colored craft feathers for fashion industry clothing and costumes, particularly hen and rooster coque feathers.

Bands: Our contemporary korowai designs include machine made taniko bands made locally in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
