Made to Order — We work closely with your whānau to create a korowai that's uniquely yours. From initial consultation through to delivery, allow 3–6 weeks for this thoughtful process. 

The Custom Design Process

  1. Order enquiry & consultation with Korowai by Hiria staff.
  2. Order confirmation and approval with Korowai by Hiria staff. Provides technical design advice, preview and final approval, ensuring your korowai is both meaningful and structurally sound. 
  3. Production begins after design approval. estimated 3-week production timeframe applies. However we aim to work with upcoming event dates in mind.
  4. Completion & Delivery Your korowai is prepared with care for collection or delivery.

Key Details

Custom korowai cannot be altered once design approval is given. Timeframes begin after design approval and payment are complete. Availability is limited and orders are accepted selectively. Each korowai is created with longevity in mind — designed to be worn, carried, and inherited.

Materials

The materials used and sourced for our contemporary designs are as follows:

Lining: Black polycotton blend

Feathers: Our contemporary korowai designs include a variety of colored craft feathers for fashion industry clothing and costumes, particularly hen and rooster coque feathers.

Bands: Our contemporary korowai designs include machine made taniko bands made locally in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
